Tips for Effective Teaching

Thought the following tips are useful. Even though they relate to an "expert teacher", they can easily be used as a benchmark to work towards for beginning teachers or student teachers like myself.

Expert teachers…

•          Plan and prepare appropriately and effectively;

•          Establish good relationships with their students;

•          Conduct lessons effectively;

•          Communicate clearly and effectively;

•          Give effective directions;

•          Demonstrate whole class awareness (teacher withitness);

•          Maintain pace and variability;

•          Facilitate smooth transitions;

•          Use rewards judiciously; and

•          Manage groups effectively.
